Helena Express Plumbing is a plumbing company at 4685 Highway 17 in Helena, Alabama 35080. We take emergency and scheduled plumbing calls for Helena and the nearby towns of Pelham, Alabaster, Chelsea and Calera. The phone line, (855) 575-2890, is open 24 hours a day.
This page explains what we do, how a call works, and how you can check any plumber's credentials yourself. We would rather you verify us than take our word for it.
What the company does
We repair and install the plumbing that most Helena homes and small businesses depend on. That includes drain cleaning, water heater repair and water heater replacement, leak detection, sewer line repair, toilet repair, faucet repair and commercial plumbing. The services page lists everything in one place.
Work is done by licensed plumbers dispatched from the call line. We do not list individual plumbers by name on this site, because the technician who comes to your door depends on the job and the hour. What stays constant is the process: you call, you hear a clear price before work starts, and you decide.
How a call works
When you call, a live dispatcher answers. They ask your address, what you are seeing and whether the water is still running. Then they walk you through the safe first step, usually shutting off a valve, and schedule a plumber.
From phone call to finished repair
- You call and describe the problem, including where the water or backup is.
- The dispatcher gives you safe steps to limit damage while you wait.
- A licensed plumber is dispatched. Same-day appointments are offered when available.
- The plumber diagnoses the problem and gives you a clear price before work starts.
- You approve or decline. If you approve, the work is done and explained in plain language.
We do not promise a fixed arrival time, because weather, traffic and call volume change from night to night. What we promise is that you will be told what to expect for your address when you call, and that nothing gets started until you have heard the price.
What licensed and insured means
Licensed means that the plumber doing the work has been recognized by the state to perform plumbing work, based on the state's own requirements. Insured means the company carries insurance for the work, so an accident on a job is not left for you to sort out on your own.
We use the phrase in the plain sense and do not quote a license number on this site, because the plumber who arrives depends on the job.
Your best protection is the ability to check. Any homeowner can ask a plumber for their license information and look it up independently. A plumber who is licensed will not mind being asked, and one who dodges the question has told you something.
Questions to ask any plumber before work starts
- Is the person doing the work licensed in Alabama, and can I look it up?
- Is the company insured for the work being done in my home?
- What will this repair cost, and what does the price cover?
- If the scope changes once the pipe is open, will you tell me before doing more?
- Will you explain what failed and what you replaced?
How to verify any plumber's license
The Alabama Plumbers and Gas Fitters Examining Board keeps a public licensee lookup online. You can search it at alpgfb.igovsolution.net by name or license details and see whether a plumber appears. This works for us, for a competitor and for the person your neighbor recommended.
Take two minutes to do it before you let someone cut into a pipe, especially when you are choosing in a hurry at night. If you cannot find a plumber on the lookup, ask them for their license information and check again. For rules about permits and inspections, check with the Helena building department or your utility.
A note on emergencies
In a real emergency, stopping the water comes first and the paperwork second. Shut off the main, call (855) 575-2890, and verify the plumber when they arrive. If you smell gas, leave the building and call 911 and the gas utility emergency line first.
Where we work
Our base is Helena, a city of about 20,914 people at the 2020 census that has grown fast since the 1990s. Many homes here have water heaters and fixtures in the age range where failures start to show up, which is why a large share of our calls involve water heaters and drains.
We also work in Pelham, Alabaster, Chelsea and Calera, and each town has its own page with local utility information on the service area page.
Water and sewer in Helena come from the City of Helena Utilities Board, which you can reach at (205) 663-1670. If a problem is on the utility's side of the meter, they are the right call, and if it is on your side of the meter, we are.
What we do not claim
We do not publish ratings, review counts or job totals on this site, and we do not tell you how long anyone has been in business. Those numbers are easy to invent and hard for you to check. We stick to things you can verify: our address, our phone line, the state license lookup and the price you are quoted before work starts.
